A card for two challenges.

Just a quick post tonight as I am heading out to a school Christmas party to mark the end of term.  I have made this little card for two challenges using my new Hero Arts "Village" stamp.
The first challenge is the colour splash over at The Play Date Cafe.

The second challenge is this weeks CAS-friday challenge which is to create a card with a matching envelope.

I now have a busy few days ahead of me doing the last minute preparations for Christmas.

If I don't get a chance to blog again I would like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Thank you for all your kind comments over the last 12 months I really appreciate them all.

Play Date colour challenge!!

This weeks Play Date Cafe challenge is a colour splash challenge, that is black and white with a splash of orange.  I had to play and use my new favourite HA stamp the Flower Dot background.  I stamped it on some white card and then added small dots of Orange Peel Stickles.  The flower is stamped onto some BasicGrey paper and then I have added some Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink for a more vivid colour.

I have added lots of pearls and gems to the flower for a real sparkle.   So I shall add this to the current Hero Arts challenge to use Bling!!

Hope you are all enjoying your week, and thank you for all the lovely comments I really appreciate them.

Play Date Cafe # 97

Its been a while since I played over at the Play Date Cafe, but after seeing the inspiration photograph this card immediately came into my head.  The Black and white flowers on the cupcakes look really classy and I just wanted to replicate this a little.

This was also a really easy card to make, I love these flower stamps from Hero Arts as they are so versatile.

Lots to do this weekend before I start back to work on monday, hope you have a great weekend.

Two more challenges!!

The challenge over at the Play Date Cafe this week is to use these three fabulous summery colours
Hollyhock...Sky Blue...Orange

I couldn't resist having a go at this and I needed to make a congratulations on passing your Driving test for a friends daughter, what better than to use the cute beetle car image from Hero Arts and make three fun, bright cars!  This was a really quick card to make the only thing was waiting for the Glossy Accents to dry on the windows.  I also got to use up some ribbon scraps from my basket.

This card also fits the current challenge at the Hero Arts Blog, which is "Wedding and Congratulation cards"

I have made another card for the Hero Arts challenge after being inspired by Jacqueline  she has made some amazing cards using the Simple Frame stamp from Hero Arts and after seeing them I immediately added it to my wish list.

I was lucky enough to find the stamp in a sale at The Glitter Pot, one of my favourite online craft stores, fantastic service, I ordered it on Wednesday evening and it arrived Friday.  I have stamped the frame onto some patterned paper from Prima and then cut it out, I masked the edges and then stamped Hydrangea with distress ink in the frame.  Next I added a mask to the flower and stamped very lightly with the Old Letter stamp.

A few weeks ago I decided to spoil myself and buy a food mixer,  I just thought you would like to see one of my first bakes using it.  My Husbands favourite Raspberry Pavlova.  I am so pleased with the result that theres no stopping me now, I am trying lots of new recipes for cakes and desserts.  My family's only complaint is that they are worried they are going to put on weight!!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

PDCC# 82

Just a quick post tonight with my entry for the current Play Date Cafe colour challenge.  This is a fairly simple card all made around the pretty blue flower I had in my stash.  The Kraft card has been stamped with the Hero Arts Birthday definition stamp, the PP's are from My Mind Eye and and Prima. I have just added some machine stitching and distressing to the edges of the papers.

This is the inspiration photograph set by Ruby, such a great photo.

Play Date Cafe # 81 and some ATC's

This week at The Play Date Cafe Sarah Anderson has chosen the colour palette inspired by wallpaper, and my card is inspired by some ATC's I have made for the challenge at Hero Arts this month.  I made the central panel as an ATC and soon realized that it was to small and was perfect for putting on a card.

I stamped the Art wording onto a piece of white card and then embossed, next I distressed with Milled Lavender and Bundled Sage distress inks.  The flower image is coloured with Copic Markers.  My background flowers are stamped onto a piece of grey paper and then sprayed with perfect pearls to give a slight shimmer.
Here are my ATC's  (the right size this time) in various colour ways.

A close up of my favourite one,(pink of course!!!)

Hope you are all having a relaxing weekend, DH is glued to the television at the moment as the FA cup final is on, still its my turn later with the Eurovision Song Contest!!!#

PDCC# 80

Such a pretty inspiration photograph for this weeks challenge over at The Play Date Cafe, as you know I love colour challenges and these colours are just what I would choose when making  a card.
I have made this mini card, it only measures 3.25 inches by 4 inches, I haven't added a sentiment yet, I shall wait till I need a card and add it then.  This was such a simple card to make. The Large Blossom stamp has been stamped and embossed with White Pearls and the blooms are coloured with Barn Door and Wild Honey Distress inks. Added the ribbon and pearls after embossing and cutting with a spellbinders die and Voila!!

Can I just wish my friends in America and Canada a Happy Mothers Day, in the UK we celebrate Mothers Day in March so ours seems ages ago now!!

Play Date Cafe # 79

Its been quite a few weeks since I have had time to have a go at the Play Date Cafe colour challenge, but when I saw the inspiration photograph this week I was totally taken with the colours.

I think my green is probably more of an olive than lime, but I love the green with the red.  As you can see under all the images I first stamped the Old Letter Writing stamp in a silver grey.  I then stamped Floral Brocade and embossed with silver pearl powder.  The image that's left is coloured with distress inks.
I am never easy leaving alot of blank card but the images here are so detailed that I didn't want to overdo it.

In the UK we are having a long weekend, we had Friday off for the Royal Wedding and Monday is May Day, the weather looks to be good so I am hoping to do lots of gardening and plant out some of my vegetables. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Butterflies

I had fun with this card although when it came to taking a photograph of it, it nearly drove me mad!!lol!  Its very dark and dreary here, so the photograph was really dull. Also the glossy accents on the butterflies are difficult to capture, they tend to reflect alot.  Never mind these are the best I could get.

This card is for the colour Splash challenge#66  at The Play Date Cafe .  The Lace Background stamp from Hero Arts is one of my favourites and when stamped in Black reminds my of beautiful French Chantilly Lace. Here I have only stamped a portion of it and then added the gems and butterflies coloured with copics and coated in Glossy Accents.

I have a really busy weekend ahead, hope yours is more relaxing.

Play Date Cafe # 64

Really pretty colours again at The Play Date Cafe challenge this week, and this card seemed really easy to put together.  The hardest thing was getting a reasonable photograph on a dull and dreary day!

Yesterday DH and I went to visit the local garden center for a little trip out and while we were there we had a hot chocolate in the cafe, the center is having a new cafe built and so while the building works are going on the drinks were served in paper cups.  As soon as I saw the corrugated Kraft coloured holders I knew I could recycle them,  hence the corrugated card in the design.  The flower is made from a piece of old lace that I stitched along the edge of and gathered. Its an old button as well so lots of recycling going on today!!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend and thanks so much for all the lovely comments you are leaving, I even had a tweet about this card last week which was very exciting!

Colour Challenge!!

This photo inspiration for the Play Date Cafe Challenge this week really had me stumped, it took ages to come up with an idea and then looking through my scrap box I found this background that I had stamped for a project ages ago and never used!

I had stamped it using Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint Distress ink, and two different stamps from Hero Arts,  I then decided that I would like to make a Valentine card and with these colours just perfect for a man!
The hearts are cut with a sissix die and then run through the wood effect embossing folder.  The gold and silver ribbons and some gems just added the finishing touch!
Thanks for looking, I really love reading all your comments.

Play Date Cafe and a card from Dawn!

Woo Hoo would you believe it I found an hour to have a play today and managed to make this card for the current Play Date Cafe Challenge, not colours I would normally use but hey ho love a Challenge!!!!

Here is a close up of the flower, to brighten it up a bit I have glued on a few seed beads with Glossy Accents to look like dew!

This is the challenge inspirational photograph but I am really bored of Christmas cards, it had to be a Thank You instead.  I will also enter this in the current Hero Arts challenge.

I was lucky enough to receive this stunning card today in the post all the way from Dawn in New Zealand, isn't it stunning,  Thanks so much Dawn I love it!!
Really must do some more jobs now before the big day.  Have a great time everyone.
Hugs

A Splash of Yellow!!

These are the colours this week at the Play Date Cafe and as you can see its another colour splash, this time with yellow.

When I was trying to think of a card to make I kept coming up with butterflies and flowers again but I wanted to steer away from that this time.   This little teacup stamp was a freebie with a card magazine that I sometimes buy and it was crying out to be inked up!!! I have paper pieced with different scraps of yellow PP from my scraps box.  I have had the background PP for years and the grey spots just didn't inspire me,but perfect for this card. (I hope it qualifies as its grey and not black?)

Its been snowing here again today, we have had about 6 inches and the garden is looking so pretty. Hope you are enjoying your weekend, only a week till Christmas now and I have lots still to do!!

Play Date Cafe #57

When I first saw the colours this week at The Play Date Cafe I  struggled a little wondering what to make, then I found this silver grey card blank in my stash and knew it would be perfect.

Quite a simple card but I am pleased with the result.  I stamped the Hero Arts Starburst lace stamp and embossed with bronze powder.  The ribbon is brown although it looks black in the photograph!

I have lots of card orders this weekend so lots to do!!  Have a great Sunday.

PDCC#55

Its been a whole week since I posted on my blog and I have missed it!! :0(   We have been decorating at home and no time for crafting till today.  The colours this week at The Play Date Cafe are a REAL challenge and It took me a while to come up with something that I really liked.

I decided to stick to making a Christmas card as I have no where near enough made yet.  Sorry about the poor photograph but its very dull here today and this card really isn't dull! The background card is Burgundy and the inner is a  pretty pink PP that I have had in my stash for ages.  The circle is made using the embossed resist technique with the Hero Arts Snowflake Circle and Broken China Distress Ink.  I have stamped and embossed the trees with a glitter gold emboss powder to lift the colours and then added the red gems.  Not the usual colours I would use for Christmas but I am actually pleased with the finished card!
I hope to get some more cards made today and hopefully find time to visit a few blogs, sorry I have not made many comments this week.
Hope you are having a great weekend and thanks for looking and commenting on my blog, I really appreciate it!!

Thinking inking!!

Colour challenges really are my favourite type of challenges and this week the Play Date Cafe have chosen these beautiful colours for the inspiration.  I have been making so many Christmas cards that I wanted a change and after watching Jennifer McGuire's thinking inking tutorials I came up with this card.
For the main panel I have used some white pearl Acrylic Paint on my stamp, when dry I added some distress inks and then I embossed the whole tile with Embossing Enamel.

The Backing paper has been stamped with the Paper Art stamp in Brilliant white ink.  I am also entering this in the Wee Memories "Scrappy Saturday Challenge" this week which is "Anything Goes" and this months Hero Arts Challenge.
Sorry a very quick post today, I've had a busy week at work so am looking forward to relaxing this weekend, hope you have a great weekend too.
