Its Sunny Here
I used my sunburst stamp the other day as sand on a card here after I had stamped the image I thought that it would also make a lovely summer sun. This is my entry for this weeks PaperPlay challenge which is:
Our theme this week is "It's Sunny Here" and we want to see sun or sunglasses on your projects.
I made my own card blank and with the left over piece decided to have a go at a scrapling.
This sweet little beach hut stamp is by The English Stamp Company and its been sitting on my desk all week, the weather here is beautiful at the moment and all I can think about is spending a lovely day down on the coast. I will have to wait till the school summer holidays before I get the chance to do that!

Summer Holiday
The weather has been glorious here in the last few days and when I saw this weeks Play Date Cafe colour challenge I immediately thought of the beach and the summer sun.
Sarah Anderson has chosen this weeks colours and they are real rich earthy colours, I love them! My inspiration has come from Suzannes stunning card, her background is so beautiful and I wanted to try her technique with the acetate and distress inks, it was such fun and I have lots of inky fingers now!!
At last I have my camera back from the repairers and was able to get a shot of this in the evening sun.
When I spritzed the background with water I used a small amount of perfect pearls in the water so the card has a soft shimmer which doesn't really show in the photograph.
I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend as the weather is set to stay warm, hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Sketch challenge
I can't seem to get away from my poppy stamps at the moment, maybe its because they make me think of long hot summer days!
The challenge at The Daring Cardmakers this week is a sketch challenge, I always find sketches a little tricky, I prefer colour challenges, but its good to tax the brain and try something different.
This is the sketch and the challenge is also sponsored by Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker and Sarah's cards there are five prizes up for grabs so why not take a look at their blog.

A splash of Blue
This weeks colour challenge at the Play Date Cafe is "A splash of Blue".
To make the background on this card I first inked the poppy stamp with Broken China distress ink, then I inked my Lace Background stamp with Chipped Sapphire ink, I kissed the two together then stamped onto card. I then embossed with clear embossing powder.
This morning I went to a Car Boot sale (like a Garage Sale ) on the green where I live and managed to find two boxed sets of Hero Arts stamps, Ribbon Greetings and Fancy Ribbons, they were both a bargain price so I was really pleased and couldn't wait to get home and ink them up.
The top section of the card was made using the same technique as the blue card above only this time I made three images and cut them in three different sizes. I then pop dotted them together.
I stamped the message using one of my new ribbon stamps. Hope you have all had a great weekend, there is another football match on tonight that DH wants to watch so I can play with my new stamps.

Our Beautiful and Clever Daughter
No cards for me today, but I thought I would post some photographs of Francesca . Yesterday we travelled to Bristol for her Graduation Years Degree show. She has just finished her final year at University and this was the exhibition of all the final pieces.
Her piece was placed behind this white wall and to see it you had to look through two spy holes. Obviously I couldn't photograph it but it was like looking through a child's Kaleidoscope, it was all based on a mirrored box with lots of coloured perspex and lights, it was very effective.
This is Francesca and her boyfriend ( wow they grow up so quick it only seems like yesterday she was a little tomboy playing in the garden and climbing trees!) The step stool has been placed there for the children to see and they were absolutely fascinated by it!
Next week we should hear what mark she has for her degree.( fingers crossed)
Sorry about the quality of the photographs but my camera is broken and its had to go to the repair shop, these were taken with a really old one! Hope to get some crafting in this weekend, its turned cold again so no gardening for me. Hope you are all having a good weekend.

I love this stamp!!
I love this stamp, its so versatile!! I have made this card for Jenny's challenge over at her wee Memories blog, the challenge is to use stitching on cards and as you can see my sewing machine actually played ball this time and I have near perfect Zig-Zag stitching, yipee!
I have used my favourite BoBunny paper again and decided to stick to pastel colours so used some lovely mint green card that I have had in my stash for ages. The edges are punched with a Martha Stewart border punch so this card also qualifies for this months challenge over at Sir Stampalots you must check this out as the prize is amazing.
I was lucky enough to be one of the winners for the Hero Arts Challenge in May and today the postman delivered four beautiful new stamps, looking forward to inking them up!!!
Hope you are all having a great week.

A new challenge
This is a new challenge for me, after visiting Lins lovely blog and seeing the card she created, I had to have a try at the Taylored Expressions Challenge . I love the way the sentiment is added to the side of the card and was inspired to have a go.
I already had the digital friends image printed so just added all the other elements to finish the card. The flowers are stamped with Hero Arts "Old Letter Writing".
I have another busy week at work next week, hopefully I will have a little crafting time while DH watches the world cup matches!
Enjoy your week!!
Babies
I have had this Squigglefly image coloured for a while and yesterday I eventually added it to a card. This polka dot BoBunny paper is one of my favourites it also comes in a lovely shade of green and a light blue(there maybe other colours but our local craft shop only has these three colours). Its perfect for backgrounds and is a really nice thick paper.
I didn't have time to upload it yesterday as my camera was playing up but imagine my surprise today when I visited my blogging friend Sannes blog and she has made an almost similar card. The same shape and with the lovely pink paper as a background. We must have been thinking alike at the same time, Sanne you are my crafting twin lol!!

Play Date Cafe Challenge 33
I love the colour combination of this weeks Play Date Cafe Challenge set by Mona so I had to give it a try, colour challenges are my favourite and this was easy to do as these colours are so pretty together.
As you can see more paper roses, I enjoy making these, the only problem is the cards are difficult to put into an envelope, you really need a card box. I have also added an old piece of lace that I found in my stash to give it a vintage touch.
At last its the weekend, hopefully I will have lots of crafting time as I have a few card orders to fill for my friends at work.

Another go at colour layering
I decided to have another go at the colour layering technique but using the same design as the card in the previous post, I am happier with these colours, I love the peach and mint green together.
To make the centre panel I used low tack masking tape on the edges of the green card and then stamped with an "old letter writing" Hero Arts stamp, I then used "Bundled Sage" distress ink on the edges. Next I stamped the flower images and then very carefully removed the tape, it leaves a lovely crisp edge.
Another quick post as things are still hectic here, hope it quietens down soon!!!

A very quick post!
I have been so busy lately at work and at home that I have hardly had any crafting time. I did manage to find about an hour today to catch up on a few blogs and have a go at this months Hero Arts challenge of colour layering. I am not really pleased with this card, as I'm not sure if the colour combinations are quite right. Hopefully I will find some time to have another try at the weekend, but in the mean time I thought I would post this anyway.
If you have a spare moment please check out The Paper Craftorium blog, I am lucky enough to be the featured blogger this week, such a surprise and a thrill, its always great when someone spots your work and feels its good enough to be featured!

Trouble with my mojo.
Although its school holidays and I usually find lots of time to craft, my mojo decided to go walkabout a couple of days ago. I have spent ages looking through lots of blogs and flickr sites to try and get some inspiration ( there are some truely amazing blogs out there and some wonderful cards).
Early this year lots of people were making these flower pot cards and as I had not tried one, I decided to give it a go.
I used the Hero Arts "outline flowers" stamp and paperpieced in pinks and browns, really simple to do and gives a great effect. This card is for the paperpieced challenge over at Jennys blog, she has lots of great ideas and her site is well worth a visit.
Hopefully my mojo has returned as I have lots of birthdays coming up and need to get crafting!!!!
