Guest Designer

I am thrilled to be the Guest Designer over at the "Lets Squash It " Challenge#7 for the month of April.  Gail and Jo have set the challenge and  would like to see you:-

"Use at least three different embossing folders and include a person"

I had this cute free wedding digital image in my stash and was keen to use it, so I printed it out and coloured with Zig Brush Markers, I the cut with a rectangle die and embossed the corner with a small Cuttlebug corner embossing folder.  I am not sure of the name but it came in a set of four , possibly wedding ones!  I also added some small pearls for a little sparkle.

Next I die cut three strips of white card using a banner die that I have had for years and proceeded to emboss them with some strip dies , also from Cuttlebug.  These came in a set of five originally and I think they were called "With Love"

I used a square card blank and added my strips at varying heights on the base and then added the main panel raised on foam tape for dimension.

I had fun making this card and I hope it has inspired you to play along this month, I look forward to seeing all your cards!!

Wedding Card!!

My son asked me to make a Wedding card for his friends in bright colours and with some flowers sitting on my desk from my last card here I decided to use the same colours!  I stamped and embossed in gold more flowers and leaves from the SSS "Even more Spring Flowers" set and then coloured with Zigs and fussy cut.

I then created the words on my computer and cut the hearts.  Then all I had to do was stick the elements to the card base in a design that I liked and added some sequins for sparkle.  Luckily I can post this now as his friends aren't followers!!

I am adding this to both the Simon Says Flickr Group challenge "Flowers" and the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Anything Goes".

Its turned colder here after a glorious Easter so I am back in my craft room catching up.

Have a great weekend.

Weddings!!

My daughter asked me to make a wedding card for her friend who got married yesterday, she wanted it pink and white so I decided to use the Beautiful Day stamp set from Altenew.  I stamped and embossed with Gold embossing powder then added highlights with Zig markers.  Then I fussy cut and layered up on the card.  The sentiment is computer generated and I then added pearls for added shimmer. I shall add this card to the "Anything Goes" challenge at the Simon Says Wednesday challenge blog.

Luckily the weather stayed good for the wedding as after the drought we have had some really heavy rain with high winds.  Hopefully its going to improve next week.

Have a great week

A special Anniversary!

My sons fiance has asked me to make a card for her parents 30th Wedding Anniversary, which is the  pearl anniversary.  I got cracking and ended up[ making two cards as I am not sure I really like the first I made.  Both cards are really simple, made of Die Cuts and dry embossing, I have also added a sentim, ent cut on my silhouette machine.

They were  both quite hard to photograph as the weather here is quite dull today. Hopefully she will like one of them.

I will also add this card to the Simon Says Wednesday challenge which this week is "Anything Goes"

Its a long weekend in the UK  and the weather is not playing ball, dull and showers, its looking good for later in the week though.

Stencils!

Virginia's second challenge is underway and this time its to use stencils,  I have a couple of new stencils but have found it quite a challenge to use them, I can't really get the look right.  Never mind, I have made this one card for the challenge, I am not sure I am truly happy with it but its a start!!  I will also add it to the Simon Says Birthday Challenge.

I am happy with this card, my friend is going to a wedding this week and asked me to make a card for her, I decided to have another play with my Silhouette machine and came up with this simple white design.

Have a great week.

Snowflakes and a Wedding.

I have been busy today making a couple more Christmas cards, I have just got this sentiment set from Hero Arts after seeing it last year and regretting not buying it, doesn't it look lovely stamped in Pool ink!!
I have made two cards on the same theme but with different snowflakes.  This lovely die is by spellbinders and you can mix and match the shapes to make lots of different designs. I am entering this card in the Die Cut Divas challenge and also "Anything Goes at Simon Says"

It also fits with the Hero Arts challenge "Deck the Halls!"as I have used Hero Arts Gems.

I then had a rush job of a quick Wedding Card for my friends son who called me to request a card, I had 30 mins to come up with a design and make it. (boys always leave things to the last minute!!) This is my CAS design and he was thrilled with it.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend, I am making the most of being in my craft room as its back to work on Monday after a week off!

Scottish Wedding!!

My son and his girlfriend are going to a traditional Scottish wedding next week and asked me to make a special card for it.  I found the perfect blue tartan ribbon and based my card around it,  the photo doesn't do the ribbon justice as the blue is really vibrant and rich, with the weather the way it is at the moment this is the best I can do!!  I have used the thistle stamp from the Hero Arts elegant weed set and stamped and embossed it in silver.
I am going to add this to two challenges "Shopping Our Stash" which is to use two forms of embossing!! and "Simon Says" Wednesday challenge to use rubber or clear stamps.

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Golden Wedding.

Its our next door neighbours Golden Wedding Anniversary at the weekend so I have made a card using my trusty Etched Flower stamp, its perfect for Weddings and Wedding Anniversary's.  I have stamped and embossed in Mirror Gold powder, not a great photo but the card has a lovely shine to it.

As the Simon Says Blog challenge is "Anything Goes" this week I shall enter this card.

Tomorrow is the last day of term and we break for two weeks holiday, I have lots planned so lets hope the weather warms up a bit!!

Weddings!!

I need a wedding card and wanted to try something a little different than I normally make.  I am hoping that this has a more modern feel to it, as  its not my usual shabby chic wedding design!!
I am really into masking at the moment as it gives the cards a cleaner look... The cloud and car stamps are from Hero Arts and the hearts are just punched out of red card, I have pop dotted two of them for more dimension.

This is another card for the Hero Arts "Love and Kisses" challenge.  I'm off to make some Brownies now, yum can't wait!!

Wedding Card

Its an absolutely beautiful day here in Surrey ( about time after all the rain we have been having) and before I go into the garden I wanted to post this card that I have made for the current Hero Arts challenge which is Weddings and Congratulation cards.
For the heart I stamped Floral Brocade with Tea Dye distress ink then I cut the heart shape and added the dots of liquid pearls. Next I have embossed three times with thick embossing powder. The background is made with the Musical Collage Background stamp and Old Paper distress ink.

Hope its a lovely day where you are.

Weddings!!

This months theme over on the Hero Arts Blog is Weddings and Congratulations and the featured technique is Water colouring. This is a card I made for the wedding theme.  The flower is stamped onto vellum and then embossed in gold then I have coated it with Rock Candy Crackle paint it has created this lovely shimmery silky effect. The background is my old favourite Classic Fabric design stamped with Old Paper Distress ink I have then added the Envelope pattern round the edges and distressed slightly.
The ribbon and lace have been stitched together and the sentiment is pop dotted to the card for dimension.

Its turned into a wet miserable day here today although I musn't complain the garden definately needs the rain.

90 minute scramble challenge!

I have just hosted my very first "90min Scramble Challenge" over at the Hero Arts Flickr group site.
The theme I chose was this :

Here in the UK the big news is that Prince William is set to marry Kate Middleton on 28th April and we have all been given the day of as an extra Bank Holiday!! Lots of the shops have decorated with red, white and blue banners, so the celebrations have started!!!

So my challenge is - " A Time to Celebrate". I have two options for you:
**Option 1 - Using at least one Hero Art stamp create a Wedding or Celebration card.
**Option 2 - create a card using at least one Hero Arts stamp on the same theme but using the colours “Red White and Blue”

The participants have to create a card in just 90 minutes, I created three cards as inspiration for the challenge and they were all really simple designs.

Its been a fun evening with lots of participants. Looking forward to doing some gardening tomorrow.

Another Bow!!!

A quick post today with another entry for the Wee Memories challenge . Created the background paper with two Hero Arts stamps Old Letter Writing and Paper Art, used Victorian Velvet distress ink and I am so pleased with the result I have made it in various other colours.  I will post a card tomorrow with the green version!
We still have lots of snow here today so the school is closed again, to dangerous on the roads and the paths are really icy.  I am just going out for a lovely walk across the common which I am looking forward to.
Hope you have a good day.

Wedding

I am going to a wedding at the beginning of April so the perfect opportunity to make a card for the Caardvarks challenge, I always think of weddings with lace! The light isn't good today and this is the best photo I can get, the card has been partially dry embossed with hearts and the paper panel is embossed in gold.
Hope you are having a good weekend, it feels good to be back crafting!!

Wedding Two

I can't get the Caardvarks challenge out of my mind, I should imagine that anyone who is passionate about card making would love to have their cards featured in a magazine, especially Cards magazine as its so modern and forward thinking. I have been lucky enough to have three cards featured in the readers submissions section of the UK version of Cards but to be in the magazine as a featured artist would be amazing. Anyway thought I would have another try at it, have used papermania and BasicGrey papers. The hearts are stamped with an old Hero Arts stamp and paper pieced.

Here is a close up of the flower and lace, I made the pin by glueing a heart shaped bead on to a long pin. Hope you are all having a good week.

Weddings and Babys

I am lucky enough to be going to two weddings this spring which means a new outfit (Woohoo) and two cards to make. I was excited to see that Caardvarks new challenge is for wedding cards and the amazing prize is to be published in Cards Magazine. I think its probably everyones dream to have their card featured in a magazine. I made this yesterday as my first attempt and I will be giving this to my cousins daughter as her wedding colours are pink.

I wanted to have a try at making this card after seeing Mels stunning card here, the image is from "Squigglefly", I think the baby is adorable. Off to do a little gardening now as the sun has come out.
Thanks to everyone for your comments, they are really appreciated.
