"Make it Girlie"

I have made two cards for the Wednesday Challenge over at Simon Says "Make it Girlie"
The first is made using the another Waxed paper embossed background, I really love this effect and have made a few samples to use later.  This one is coloured with Pool Hero Arts ink , such a great colour and it goes so well with orange.  The flowers are from the Hero Arts "Color Layer Hibiscus set". The banners are cut using an Avery Elle die.

The second card is using a frame made with the same Wax paper technique and more of the Hero Arts flowers.  A simple CAS card for a friend!

Looking forward to a trip to London tomorrow to celebrate my DH and sons birthday.  Hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Link Up Party!

I used to enjoy taking part in Virginia Lu's challenges over at "Virginia's View" and missed them when she decided to stop.  Well she has decided to have an impromptu party !! Its a Link up party with friendship in mind so I just had to take part!

Here is my card, I have been busy with my distress stains again, I stamped and white embossed the Tim Holtz Flower Garden Blossom onto water colour paper and then added some stain and spritzed with some perfect pearls in a mister.  This gives a shimmer to the flowers.  I then cut a frame using some Avery Elle dies, the sentiment was made on the computer I just added the wire for texture.

Its a busy day in our house as its my Hubby's birthday as well as my son Tristan's.  Lots of celebrations to be had.  On Saturday we are off to London for the day to visit Jimi Hendix's flat as its now open to the public.  He is a hero of both my DH and sons.  Lets hope the weather warms up a bit for it!!

Out of my comfort zone!!

I wanted to make another card for the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Lets do the Polka" so I hunted through my paper stash and found this red polka dot sheet which I decided to used as the background.  I then found some more spotty paper and stamped this older flower image from Hero Arts and fussy cut out the flower.  The banner is cut from an Avery Elle die,  this card is so far away from my usual stamping style but I am actually pleased with the end result.  This challenge has stretched my style and I do love a good challenge!!

Wax Paper Embossed Backgrounds.

If you saw this post you will have seen my first attempts at a Wax Paper Embossed Background,  I really like this technique and as it produces a lovely effect, perfect for backgrounds!  I wanted to make a girly card for a youngster just learning to drive and I am pleased with the finished card.  The Beetle car is from a really old Hero Arts stamp set and the card shape and sentiment is made using my newest purchase.  A Tagforall Die set from Avery Elle.  As I have used some Polka Dot paper I shall add this to this weeks Simon Says Wednesday Challenge. "Lets Do The Polka"

Hope you all have a relaxing weekend.

In the Pink!!!

Spring has arrived in Surrey and I was inspired to use the lovely flower garden set by Tim Holtz again,  I have also heard some great news that my cousins daughter has just had a baby girl, so all things pink today !!!!

A similar card to yesterday but a much more subtle colour scheme, the paler flowers are much closer to the real blossom I think!  This is another card for the challenge at Simon Says this week, a Happy Birthday theme to celebrate their 7th Birthday!!

While Blog surfing this morning I saw this lovely card made by Dawn and immediately watched the video for the background technique and had to have a go.  I am really pleased with the effect and will be trying this one again! I used some scraps from my basket to finish off the card, and this is also for the challenge at Simon Says and the challenge at Die Cut Divas as I have used my Avery Elle dies for the panel.

Also linking this to the Butterfly challenge at "Creative With Stamps".

Off to play with this technique again.

Happy Birthday!!

I am hooked on this stamp at the moment, its from the Flower Garden set by Tim Holtz, the cherry blossom is coming out in my neighbours garden and I was inspired to use it again. I have watercoloured the flowers, but  they are more red than pink I will have to have another go I think!
I am adding this to the Happy Birthday challenge at Simon Says.

My neighbours beautiful tree!!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

More Flowers!

More time to play with my stamps today as we are having April showers!!  I decided to make another card with my Tim Holtz Flower Garden set, after stamping and embossing the flowers on water colour paper, I  coloured the images and decided that I wanted the colours to be subtle.  So I cut a panel of Vellum and stitched it to my coloured panel.  I then added a butterfly and the sentiment.
There is a new challenge blog set up by Monica and Lilian called "Creative with Stamps" Their first challenge is " Butterflies"  I love a new challenge so I will be adding this card.

My next card is a very simple CAS Birthday card, I found an old Hero Arts stamp "Block of four sqaures" in my draw and had to ink it up again! I have just added a die from Simon Says, some pearls and a sentiment.

Hope you are having a great week.

A New Stamping Craft!!

I am trying to build up my supply of cards and decided to make a CAS Birthday card with my Hero Arts Layering Hibiscus stamp and die set.  Such a useful stamp set, I seem to be always using it at the moment.   I am adding this to the challenge at A Blog Named Hero which is "Clean and Simple"

I am a keen crafter and love to try new techniques, I saw some Indian Fabric printing at a recent craft fair and had to have a go, I can see lots of possibilities here. My daughter came round and we had a craft day, for some reason I cant rotate the photo but still decided to post it so you can see the fun we had.

This is my first attempt, a tea towel, its great fun we even stamped a lampshade, nothing is going to be safe lol!!

My new block stamps, I can see another collection starting!

Have a great day.

Spring is Here!!

I have been busy practicing my water colouring skills, there is so much inspiration around at the moment and I always find colouring a challenge!!  I have used the Tim Holtz Flower Garden set for this card , stamping and embossing the image in white onto water colour paper .  I then set about colouring the images, I still need more practice but amk slowly getting there.  The die sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.

The weather is certainly getting more Spring like here so time to get into the garden and do some tidying.  Have a great Sunday.
