Masculine Valentine

This is the sketch inspiration at Wee Memories this week and ,as  I need some masculine Valentine cards this was the perfect sketch for the job!!

This is my card , perfect for a man (also very quick to make).  The top strip of paper was a scrap from my basket, as was the handwritten paper which I have distressed with Tea Dye ink.  The hearts are a Hero Arts stamp set called Hearts Trio.

Hope you have had a good weekend, it was a glorious sunny but cold day here today,  I love days like that!

Butterflies

I had fun with this card although when it came to taking a photograph of it, it nearly drove me mad!!lol!  Its very dark and dreary here, so the photograph was really dull. Also the glossy accents on the butterflies are difficult to capture, they tend to reflect alot.  Never mind these are the best I could get.

This card is for the colour Splash challenge#66  at The Play Date Cafe .  The Lace Background stamp from Hero Arts is one of my favourites and when stamped in Black reminds my of beautiful French Chantilly Lace. Here I have only stamped a portion of it and then added the gems and butterflies coloured with copics and coated in Glossy Accents.

I have a really busy weekend ahead, hope yours is more relaxing.

Valentine

Lots going on this week and I have had a head cold so my brain has gone all fuzzy!!  Did manage to make this quick Valentine card inspired by this sweet card by Kelly.  I liked the idea of using a different fold for a change.  I will enter this in the challenge at Wee Memories this week as "anything goes"

Must dash as lots to do, I will reveal more next week :0)

A Different Style

I made this card for the current challenge over at The Wee Memories blog , which is sponsored by May Arts the ribbon specialists.  I decided to move away from my usual style and make something a little different for me.   This image was sent to me a while back by the very talented Kathy she has the most amazing blog, please visit and check out her fantastic cards.  I coloured the image with copic markers and then pop dotted it onto the basic Grey paper.  Added the twine, ribbon and buttons.  Its great to try something different once in a while!!
Have a great week!

Play Date Cafe # 64

Really pretty colours again at The Play Date Cafe challenge this week, and this card seemed really easy to put together.  The hardest thing was getting a reasonable photograph on a dull and dreary day!

Yesterday DH and I went to visit the local garden center for a little trip out and while we were there we had a hot chocolate in the cafe, the center is having a new cafe built and so while the building works are going on the drinks were served in paper cups.  As soon as I saw the corrugated Kraft coloured holders I knew I could recycle them,  hence the corrugated card in the design.  The flower is made from a piece of old lace that I stitched along the edge of and gathered. Its an old button as well so lots of recycling going on today!!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend and thanks so much for all the lovely comments you are leaving, I even had a tweet about this card last week which was very exciting!

I love colour challenges!!

When I saw the colours for this weeks challenge over at CR84FN this week I really wanted to play along as I love the spring like colours in the inspirational photograph. While looking through my scrap basket last week I found a couple of backgrounds that I had made and never used, I made this card with one of them and as they were both green backgrounds I decided to use the other in the card for this challenge!
This time I have added a  butterfly coloured with copic markers( this is a digital image that I have re sized) and some lavender ribbon.

Its hard to see from the photograph but the butterfly trail is created with aqua coloured gems and I have also added a few yellow gems and pearls to complete the colour requirements.

This is the colour swatch, isn't it beautiful!!

I was lucky enough yesterday to receive to receive this sweet award from Eleclyah in Italy,  Grazie mille  Eleclyah!!

This award has a few rules and you need to choose 12 of your favourite blogs to award it to, I visit lots of different blogs and can't possibly just pick 12 so if you are reading this and would like this little award please take it!!

Colour Challenge!!

This photo inspiration for the Play Date Cafe Challenge this week really had me stumped, it took ages to come up with an idea and then looking through my scrap box I found this background that I had stamped for a project ages ago and never used!

I had stamped it using Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint Distress ink, and two different stamps from Hero Arts,  I then decided that I would like to make a Valentine card and with these colours just perfect for a man!
The hearts are cut with a sissix die and then run through the wood effect embossing folder.  The gold and silver ribbons and some gems just added the finishing touch!
Thanks for looking, I really love reading all your comments.

More fun with masking!!

I have been having more fun with the masking technique demonstrated by Shari on the Hero Arts blog.  This time I have used a Spellbinder Nestability shape to create my mask.

I stamped and then distressed the Music Background with Victorian Velvet, one of my favourite new colours from Tim Holtz!  Next I stamped the silhouette corner using an Adirondack pad in Pesto, I also stamped the butterfly using the same pesto colour.   I made a mask for the butterfly and then coloured with Broken China ink, adding a little yellow to the edges and some white dots.

The current Hero Arts challenge is also to decorate the inside of the card so I have added a butterfly in the same way.
Here is another card for the current challenge, this time using the masking technique and this was also inspired by the cover of the new Hero Arts catalogue.  Not sure if I really like this card, it didn't really turn out how I envisaged it, never mind I will enter it anyway.
Hope you are all having a relaxing weekend, I have two ill children at the moment, both Francesca and Tristan seem to have this flu bug thats going round.  I am trying to nurse them and I'm dosing myself up in the hope that I don't catch it as well!!

Woo Hoo I have found time to craft!!!!!!

After an exciting, busy and very tiring couple of weeks I have at last found some time to relax and make a card.  I was excited by the new challenge blog that Mona Pendleton has set up called CR84FN, its a colour challenge and they really are my favourite!!  The colours this week are Yellow, Peach and Light Pink, Yummy!!  I also wanted to have a go at the masking technique that Shari demonstrates so well here.

This is my card using lots of Hero Art stamps and distress inks.  The background is made using two stamps Paper Art and Letter Writing, stamped with Mustard Seed Yellow and then distressed.
I then stamped on the butterfly and with a mask made from a post-it note I stamped with Antique Brocade and then coloured with Worn Lipstick Distress ink.
The frill is cut from a spare piece of stamped paper and punched with a Martha Stewart border punch.

This is the colour inspiration, such  pretty photo's!
This card is for both the CR84FN challenge and the current Hero Arts Challenge.

Hope to find some more time to craft over the weekend, its great to be back in the groove!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi to all my friends and followers, sorry I have been missing for a while but I had to make this quick post just to wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year

I have had such a busy week and no time for crafting, my DD is moving back home for about 6 months to work as a teaching assistant in the school where I work.  Then in September she is hoping to go back to University for a year to take her PGCE qualifications and become a Primary School Teacher!  We have been busy moving her out of her flat and bringing everything home, (I can't believe how much stuff a 22 year old has!!!!!!!!!.  The house looks like the Yellow Storage Depot at the moment! not sure we will ever be straight!  Never mind its great to have her home again.

I hope I will find time to make something soon in the mean time I must try to catch up on every ones blogs, I miss my daily blog visits!!
