Embossing!

After a gorgeous week of glorious sun we now have more rainy days due,  disappointing but I have had more time to get in the craft room and make a card.

I love Distress Oxide inks and the blend beautifully, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade make a fabulous bright and summery mix when blended a perfect backdrop to the Gerbera Daisy Background.

I stamped with embossing ink and the heat embossed with clear powder. I then added a small border of patterned paper to the side before mounting on my card. I then just added the sentiment and sequins.

I shall add this card to the current Simon Says Flickr challenge "Emboss it"

Looking forward to watching some of the Olympics today, have a great weekend.

Shimmer and Shine!

The theme for this months "Lets Squash it" challenge is "Shimmer and Shine". I found this challenge quite hard as I only really have embossing powders that shimmer and I couldn't find a way of those looking good on my dry embossed card.  Then sorting through my crafty drawers I found a really old tub of gold Perfect Pearls and decided to give this a go.

First I distressed a pice of card with Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks, I then ran this through in an old Embossing folder from "Design Objectives", not sure of the name of the folder.  I mixed my Perfect Pearls in a spray bottle with water and spritzed the card with lots of spray and then dried with my heat gun.

Its quite hard to photograph but is really shimmery in real life. Next I added a couple of die cut circles and the layered up die cut Thanks sentiment from Simon Says which I also added the perfect Pearls to.

Now I have rediscovered the Perfect Pearls I shall be using them again, such a lovely effect and would look fabulous on my Christmas cards.

It looks like we are in for some good weather at last so I shall be out in the garden ,Woo Hoo!!

Summer Cocktails!

Its definitely not cocktail weather here at the moment, just rain and cold but fingers crossed it looks like it might change next week!!
I decided to make this bright cocktail inspired card and stuck to summery yellows and oranges to cheer myself up !

The background is Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade Distress oxide inks and the orange slices are from an old Simon Says stamp set called "Lemonade". The cocktail glass is a Tim Holtz set which I stamped twice, coloured with Zig Markers and fussy cut to layer up. I also added some Nuvo glitter for a sparkly drink!  The Birthday sentiment is also Simon Says!

Christmas Kickstart Challenge!

This months Christmas Kickstart Challenge #52 is "Woolly, Fluffy or Furry"   , so I looked through my Christmas craft supplies and found this really old Penny Black stamp from 1996 called "Don't Peek, Don't Shake, Don't Tell", its one of my favourites and was great to ink it up again.

I decided to make the mini card and stamped the image twice and coloured with my Zig markers. I then fussy cut the three bunnies and layered them up on pop dots for a bit of dimension.

I then punched the holes in the card and added the gingham ribbon. I might make a collection of these ready for the presents!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Summer Flowers!

The weather in the UK at the moment is wet, windy and dull,  not like summer and really quite depressing.  I needed something to cheer me up so made this mini Slimline card with dies and the So Beautiful stamp set  from Simon Says, lots of summery flowers to colour.  All my flowers are getting spoilt by the rain at the moment!

The background is salty ocean distress Oxide ink and I have coloured the flowers with Zig marker and gouache paint.  I then added a few gems for sparkle and the Thanks sentiment, also Simon Says.

I am adding this card to the current SSS Flickr challenge "Celebrate Summer " and the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Anything Goes".

Hope the weather is better where you are, have a great week.
