Vintage??

Its another gloomy, wet and windy day here and getting in my craft room is a sure way to cheer me up.  I thought I would have a go at the Simon Says Monday Challenge , now this really was a challenge for me, completely out of my comfort zone.  They like a vintage style of card so I had a go, not sure if I really like it but I tried!!

I used the Hero Arts Winter Town stamp and created a shaker card with it, the sentiment and ribbon are my attempts at vintage, perhaps I should stick to my usual style lol!!

Heres hoping the weather cheers up soon!!

Last Minute Madness!!

Its the last Christmas Kickstart Challenge of 2019 and I knew I had to play along.  I have really enjoyed taking part in this challenge this year, it also meant that I was ahead when it came to creating my cards for Christmas and it wasn't such a mad rush!

The last challenge of the year is "Anything Goes" or "Last Minute Madness".  I decided to ink up and colour these cute penguins again from "Heffy Doodles", love this set and its certainly been well used this year.  First I die cut four glittery snowflakes using Simon Says dies and stuck them to some white card, I then cut out the snow letters using alphabet dies from Altenew making sure the snowflakes were perfectly placed.  I layered them up to make the card thicker.

Next I stuck them to my embossed panel using foam taper to raise them up.  I then added the little penguin peeking through.

I will also add this to the Simon Says Flickr challenge "Die Cutting"

We are in for a few wet and windy days here  so I shall be up in my craft room making a few more cards!

Pillow Boxes!

I needed a couple of gift boxes so made these pillow boxes,  decided to make them in a silver grey card.  This first one is decorated with lots of die cut snowflakes using Simon Says dies, cut in white and a blue glitter card. I then added the die cut Christmas using the Heffy Doodle die cut in gold. I then added the string tie to finish off.

This second box is again in silver grey, I have added the white embossed circle and some die cut red glitter baubles and gingham ribbon.  (not sure of where I got these dies)

Almost ready for Christmas now yeah!!

Snowflakes!!

I needed a couple of extra Christmas cards so got out my Simon Says Stamp snowflake dies to create these quick and easy cards.  This first one uses my gold wallpaper for the background which I have stamped and embossed in gold using various Hero Arts snowflake stamps.  I then added the SSS Eliza snowflake cut in gold glitter  and the gold sentiment from Heffy Doodles.

My next design uses a Tim Holtz embossing folder and more Simon Says snowflakes with a computer generated sentiment.
Two very easy cards, perfect for batch making.

I am adding both these to the Simon Says Flickr Group challenge "Die Cuts".

Silver Snow!

If you saw my last post about the wallpaper my neighbour was clearing out you will know that there was a roll of silver too.  Here is a card I have made using it as a background, it really is a quality paper and looks fabulous and shimmery as a backing for cards.

For this card I have embossed in silver an older stamp from Hero Arts called "International Christmas Script".  Then I cur the Simon Says Alicia snowflake in silver glitter paper and twice in white card, I layered these up to make the snowflake stand out from the card.  Lastly I added lots of silver stars and the die cut sentiment from Heffy Doodles.

This was a quick and easy card and it looks so elegant.

I shall add this to both the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Starry, Starry Night " and the current SSS Flickr Challenge "Merry Making".

Have a great week

Two More Christmas Designs!!

My neighbour was clearing out and gave me two rolls of wallpaper, a gorgeous shimmery gold and one in silver too.  Its perfect for using on my cards as it is a really good quality with a gorgeous elegant look.  I decided to have a go at embossing in gold on it and it worked beautifully with no buckling.   I embossed some extra leaves and cut them out also adding some vellum poinsettias. The stamp set is from Simon Says and the die is Heffy Doodles.  Lastly I added some gold Nuvo drops.

I am adding this card to the current Simon Says Flickr Group challenge "Merry Making".

My next card is a shaker made using Simon Says dies and Festive Tree stamp, the little penguin is from a set by Heffy Doodle called "Wanna Build a Snowman".  I have added lots of gold and silver stars in the shaker window.

I will also add this card to the Simon Says Flickr Group challenge and also the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Starry Starry Night".

The weather is still sop gloomy here so I am spending lots of time in my craft room getting more Christmas cards done.  I am seeing my daughter this week and she is bound to raid my stash lol!!

Skating Santa!!

I wanted to join in this fortnights Christmas Kickstart Challenge but I don't have any Santa stamps, so I looked online and found this cute free image to colour.  I printed it off and coloured with Zig Brush markers then die cut the square using the Stitched Square dies from Simon Says Stamp.  Next I masked the image as much as I could and blended the background with Distress Oxide ink. Then using the Simon Says Falling Snow stencil I added the sparkly snow effect using Nuvo Glimmer paste.

A close up to show the sparkly snow !  I shall also add this to the Simon Says Flickr group challenge.

Its actually stopped raining here so am off to do some tidying in the garden.  Have a great day.

Christmas Tree.

As I had the Simon Says Festive Tree stamp set on my desk I decided to make another card using the heart tree.
This time I stamped and embossed in gold and very loosely coloured with Zig Markers, I wanted a loose water coloured look.  Then I highlighted some of the hearts with a red glitter gel pen for a little more sparkle.  Difficult to photograph but it shimmers beautifully. Added the pearl star and a die cut sentiment from Heffy Doodle.

Hope you are having a good week, its another wet one here !

Totally Besotted with these colours!!

I am totally besotted with these colours at the moment and all my latest Christmas cards feature them in one way or another!  This latest card uses dies and stamps from Simon Says Stamp.

I stamped and embossed in Silver the triangle tree from the Festive Trees set, I then coloured the tree with Zig Markers and cut out.  I then cut various Snowflakes and layered them up.  The background card has been roughly blended with Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks.

I layered the tree up on some pop dots and then added the sentiment.

I am adding this to a couple of challenges , The Christmas Kickstart Challenge which this fortnight is "Snow" and the Simon Says Flickr Challenge "Colouring."

Snowflakes!!

My Christmas cards this year seem to have a theme running through them of this blue/green colour using Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean blended together.  I love the pretty colour it creates.  For this card I blended a stripe of it and then added some golden snow, with my SSS falling snow stencil and some glittery gold Art Glitter Paste.

The snowflakes are cut using Simon Says dies and the die cut word is from Heffy Doodles.

I am adding this card to the current Christmas Kickstart Challenge "Snow" , the Love handmade cards Flickr challenge and the SSS Instagram Challenge.

We have another wet weekend forecast here so I shall be in my craft room a lot!!  Have a great weekend.

Thanks!

I have been practicing my water colouring with Zig markers and made this card for a couple of current challenges.  The first is the SSS Wednesday Challenge "Fall/Autumn"  and the second is the SSS Flickr Challenge which is "Grateful/Thankful" for this fortnight.

I used the centre flowers from the SSS "Centre Cut Flowers" set and stamped in Scattered Straw Distress ink, then I carefully water coloured with my Zigs.  I then layered the panel up on some mustard card and added the die cut sentiment.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge!!

I always like to try and take part in Jo's Christmas Kickstart Challenge if I can , but this fortnights challenge is "Jingle all the Way".  Unfortunately I don't have any stamps with bells on and couldn't find any digital ones that I really liked.

I found in my bits and bobs draw some mini metal bells so decided to make a card and add these as decoration.  I already had a bunch of these cute reindeer from Clearly Besotted stamped and coloured ready to go.  I created the background by making a stencil using an oval die and then distressing with Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean Oxide ink.

Next I added the snow with a Simon Says stencil called "Falling Snow then adding the small village die cut and highlighting this with Nuvo Glitter paste.  The Sentiment die is also Simon Says.

Next I layered up the image onto a red card blank, adding the gingham ribbon and my miniature silver bells.

We are having another wet day here and its really miserable, so I am snuggled up in my craft room having fun!!

Hope you are having better weather where you are.

Blue Snowflakes!

As my stencil I made for this card was still useable I decided to have a go and make a blue version.

I used the waste card from cutting some snowflakes as a stencil and rubbed through Distress Oxide ink, I then laid the snowflake in the stencil and rubbed again to create the shadow effect. Next I lightly rubbed the whole card base with Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink, and splattered some white gouache over the whole card.

Added the glittery snowflakes and sentiment to complete, a very simple card to make but I love the finished card.  I shall add this card to the current Simon Says Flickr Challenge "Let your Stencils Shine".

At last we are having some decent weather here and I am hoping to get down to the beach tomorrow for a walk .  Have a great week.

Pink Snowflakes!

I was keen to play along in the Simon Says Flickr group challenge "Let your stencils shine"again but I don't have many stencils.  I decided to make my own with a couple of their snowflake dies.

I cut the "Kate" and "Eliza" snowflakes into some cardstock and used the outline of the cuts to rub some Raspberry Distress ink through, I then lay the cut snowflakes over the shape and carefully rubbed the ink over to create the shadow effect.

I then just added the die cut sentiment and some sequins, loved the effect it created and I am sure I will try this again.

I am also adding this card to the Simon Says Monday challenge "All things Pink"

I am still suffering with a nasty cold so am going to relax now with a Lemsip and a book.

Have a great weekend

Unfortunately I have a head cold, the first of the winter and hopefully the last!!  Not really felt like doing much , but did find time to make this little card using some Heffy Doodle penguins that I coloured a couple of weeks ago.

Created the background using Simon Says "Falling Snow " stencil and Cracked Pistachio and Salty Sea Distress Oxide ink. Added the Simon Says die cut snowflake and pop dotted the penguins and snowman. Decided to use a red card blank for extra colour.

Adding this to the SSS Flickr challenge "Let your stencils shine"

Its still raining here!!

The weather here is still awful so I am back in my craft room making cards :0) .  This first one is a new home card for a friend who is moving to Dorset soon.  I used and older Hero Arts stamp called " Row of Houses" I stamped onto a piece of distressed cardstock in Altenew "Volcano Lake" highlighting one of the houses with a red Zig marker.  The sentiment is computer generated and I have layered up on some patterned paper.

My next card is another snowflake Christmas card,  I have used this gorgeous Aquamarine cardstock from Papermill Direct, love the colour and the slight rib texture.

I then used the SSS "Falling Snow" stencil and some Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink. Next I added the glittery snowflakes cut using SSS dies, the sentiment is also Simon Says.

I shall be adding this card to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Christmas" and also the Simon Says Flickr Challenge "Stencils".

Hopefully we have better weather forecast for later in the week so I can get in my garden.

Have a great week

More Christmas Cards!

Another wet miserable day here in Beaminster so I have had time for lots of crafting, here are two Christmas cards I have made for a couple of challenges. I have two Distress Oxide inks, Salty Ocean and Cracked Pistachio and I love the look of them when blended together, so pretty!

For this first card I have blended the background then added two Zig coloured reindeer from the Clearly Besotted "Lets Prance" set.  The sentiment is a die from Simon Says.

The reindeer have been pop dotted up for texture.  I shall be adding this card to the current Christmas Kickstart Challenge "Woodland Creatures"  and the current Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Christmas".

For my next card I have again used the pretty distressed background, this time adding a SSS Snow Flake and Holiday Frame die, I then also mounted the base onto some silver glittery card for extra sparkle.

I shall also add this to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge,

Off to make more cards now, a perfect distraction from the weather!!
