Spring Flowers!

Looking at the SSS Wednesday Challenge mood board and I was inspired to make this Spring Birthday card.

First I created the back panel by distressing the slimline blank with Cracked Pistachio Oxide ink and then using the Simon Says Tea Dance stencil distressed again.

I then Stamped and embossed in white the flowers from the "Even More Spring Flowers" stamp set, I then water coloured with Zig Brush Markers and fussy cut out.

I next layered and glued the flowers to the card base and then added some pearls. The scalloped base was distressed with Squeezed Lemonade Oxide ink  and then foam taped them together for added dimension.

I shall also add this card to the current SSS Flickr Challenge "Use a Stencil" , These colours really make my heart sing, Spring at its best!!!

Have a great weekend

Hello to Spring!

Always trying to build up my stash of cards I decided to make some non specific designs to send at any time.  This is the first using Simon Says "Spring Flowers" stamp set, an oldie but I love the pretty flowers in this set.

First I used some masking to stamp the flowers straight to my card base , then embossed in white. I then masked again and used some Cracked Pistachio Oxide ink for the distressing round the flowers.  I then coloured the flowers with Zig Markers.

I then added the Hello sentiment from Hero Arts layering it up for dimension. Love the soft colours.

Have a great week

Thank you !

My stash off cards was running short of  Thank You cards so I got to work and made these two.

For this first one i used the Kaleidoscope Background stamp from Simon Says and stamped and embossed in silver.  I then coloured in parts of the image with some pink Zig markers. Also adding some pearls and Silver Nuvo drops some areas.

Lastly I added the SSS die cut " Thanks " sentiment in silver and mounted it to a pink card base.

For the second card I stamped and clear embossed a panel with the Simon Says Cosmos Background and coloured with a mixture of Zigs and Distress Oxide inks.  I then cut the three squares with the SSS Stitched Square background die and added to a card base with foam tape.

I then added the die cut Thanks sentiment, also from Simon Says.  I shall add both these cards  to the current Flickr Challenge "Spring Fling"

We have been out in the garden all day today and it was glorious, so pleased to be out in the fresh air!  Looking forward to some more good weather at the weekend!

It's Margarita Time!

Inked up my Tim Hotz "Cocktail Blueprint" stamps again to make this Birthday card, I have used a more neutral palette so could be used for male or female birthdays!

The lime slices are from an older Simon Says stamp set called "Lemonade" and they are stamped in green although it looks yellow in the photograph.  I have also added Nuvo Glimmer paste to the rim of the glass for a touch of sparkle and to represent the salt!

I coloured the drink with with Zig markers .  I shall add this card to the current Wednesday challenge over at Simon Says.

Have a great week

Little Easter Boxes!

I decided to make these table treat boxes for Easter that can be filled with mini eggs,  although I am a bit disappointed as my family wont be able to visit at Easter due to the Lockdown rules!

I found the pattern for the little box online and hand cut four in bright spring coloured card.

Next I embossed all the sides with an older embossing folder from Cuttlebug and highlighted the embossing with Distress Oxide inks.

I then made the labels by stamping this really old Rubber Stampede image in black and colouring with my Zig Markers. adding some glimmer paste to the seed head.

I found scraps of matching ribbon for the boxes and attached the label.

Really pleased with how they turned out and quite simple to make too.

Sorry for the photo heavy post!
I am adding these to the current challenge at the "Lets Squash it" blog "Boxing clever with floral embossing"

Happy Mothering Sunday to all the UK Mothers out there!

New arrivals and another Christmas card!

I was asked to make a new baby card for a young mum who has just had premature twins, they are both in the special care baby unit at the moment.  Hopefully they will put on weight and be allowed home soon.

I wanted to add their names and weight to the card as a memento  so printed that on to card and die cut the hearts.

The twins is cut using Altenew bold alphabet dies and the elephants are from a set by Heffy Doodles.

I have also made another card for the CAS Christmas card March challenge "Kraft, Red and White"
This time I have used the Chunky Merry die from Simon Says , cutting it in red glitter card and the cute reindeer is from Clearly Besotted.  I also used the Simon Says Falling Snow stencil and some Nuvo glimmer paste.

We have had really cold weather here again today with lots of hail storms, I am really itching to get out in the garden and get it ready for Spring.  Hopefully soon!

Have a great weekend and to all the UK mums "Happy Mothers Day " for tomorrow.

Tropical Flower!

Its been a very dull couple of days here in Dorset so needed some colour in my life!! I found this older Hero Arts set "Layering Hibiscus and knew I had to ink it up again.  For the background I used I used Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade and Cracked Pistachio Oxide inks and a corner embossing folder from Crafters Companion.

I then stamped the flowers and leaves using similar colours and die cut.

I layered all up onto a Simon Says Square  cut and added the computer generated sentiment.

CAS Christmas Cards!

Thanks to my blogging friend Jo I have just found this new challenge blog CAS Christmas, I always like to make Christmas cards all through the year as it saves a big panic in November (I usually make and send 50 cards)!

This month the theme is Kraft, Red and White, I haven't used any Kraft in my cards for ages so it was great to get it out again and have a play!

I have a collection of  embossing folder strips from Cuttlebug that I hardly ever use and I though this dotty one was perfect for the background.

I then die cut the L'il Gnome from Simon Says in white and red glitter cardstock adding a small white pom pom to his  hat.

Lastly I added the computer generated sentiment adding some red gems. I shall also add this card to the Simon Says Flickr group challenge "Do it with Dies"

I didn't realize how hard it would be to get a good photo, the kraft card photographs very orangy and not the lovely buff brown it should be!

Spring has arrived here in Dorset and lambing season is in full swing, here are a few photos of the lambs in the field outside my craft room, so lucky to have this view when I am creating!

Flower Cluster Die

While the Simon Says  Flower cluster die was on my desk I wanted to make another card for the SSS Flickr Challenge "Do it with Dies"  I had a panel already distressed with a rainbow of Oxide inks so I decided to make a paper pieced image.  I cut the die in white and then in the rainbow coloured card.

I then adhered the white image to my card base and then glued in the individual pieces of the coloured version.  This was extremely fiddly and I was beginning to wonder if it was worth the effort, but I persisted and am really pleased piece. I then cut the "Hello" in the remaining piece of distressed card and added to to my card front with some sequins. Next I layered up onto the green card before adding it to my card base.

I shall also add this card to the LOVE Flickr group challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Beautiful Blossoms"

We are now off for a long countryside walk in the sunshine,  its cold but sunny ,long may it last lol.

Pastel Shaker Card.

The current Simon Says Stamp Flickr group challenge is "Do it with Dies" one of my favourite themes.  I have lots of dies and love using them in my cards.

I used the Flower Cluster die to create this fun shaker card, sticking to the pastel lilac colour theme.

After cutting the die from the corner of a card blank I stuck some acetate to the back and then added back the flower die cut, I used some gorgeous lilac card for the background and the sentiment adding some sparkly sequins to the shaker element.

I shall also add this to the Simon Says Wednesday challenge "Beautiful Blossoms"

Looking forward to the weekend, we are still in Lockdown so have booked a treat of a takeaway from a fabulous restaurant in our town called Brassica.  There food is always delicious,  I miss not going out for a meal so this is the next best thing.

Have a great weekend

Green Christmas!!

Another month and another challenge at the Christmas Kickstart blog, this month the theme is "Green Christmas".  I was hunting through my embossing folders and found this really old one from Cuttlebug so decided to have a play.  I inked the folder in a green pigment ink and ran through the card, then I added some clear shimmer embossing powder to give the background a gorgeous sparkle (very hard to photograph). I then added the red gems and sentiment and layered up onto white card. Finally sticking to a red card base.

Green is not a go to colour for me but this turned out prettier than I thought!!

Went for a lockdown walk in the local park and found this gorgeous display of crocuses, looks like spring is on the way at last!!
